(Game)Chapter 2 update 13

Again an update which I can't show much but this week I finished writting an ero scene, almost done with the sidequest/mainquest writting. I started adding the new armors, weapons, items and skills as well as making new maps and making more progress finish up the CGs I previewed before.

Also it took me a bit of time to get it working properly but here's Hiro's field skill which will allow the player to transform the water into ice when the water is glittering!

That's it for this week, I'm making progress little by little and I'm aiming to release the second chapter this summer ;).

  1. and now Hiro can ice freeze. i love him more every update! :D
    also that's a nice ability, you can definitely use it to get access to hidden parts of the map to find more goodies... that's what always makes exploration exciting for me.

At first I wanted him to be able to freeze any and all bodies of water but some... problems and errors kept coming up so I had to change how his skill works to only work on the water with some glitters. (This may sound stupid but its actually a huge change as to how the skill works.) I do plan however to give plenty of chance to use this skill ;).

  3. i see. rpg maker doesn't allow for dynamical changing of maps or something?
    maybe there is some manual way to replace the file of textures of sparkling water with the regular water to make it not so obvious? i don't like the idea to mess with rtp very much and
    i have absolute no clue about the architecture of rpg maker, but if nothing else works, you may as well try smth like this...

    1. That's exactly what I wanted to do at first, but one of the plugin which is pretty much crucial in making the menus was returning an error every time which unfortunately made this impossible.

    2. Btw, I could always take away the sparkles but then I think it would be hard to know when you can use Hiro's power or not unless you use it on every puddle of water and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

    3. i'm sure it will be fine either way :)
      just wondering, if you could remove the sparkles and then replace ALL water tiles in the world with these, how wouldn't that solve the problem? did you have other objects to freeze in mind?

    4. The sparkles only are an indicator of which pool of water can be frozen. I tested freezing all the water and if you cast the spell too much, the game goes down to 1 fps at some point which isn't good XD.

      and how do the sparkles solve this problem? they just put a limit to number of possible casts?

    6. Sparkles are just aesthetics, they do nothing, they're there to tell the players "you can freeze this water" XD. If I don't limit the number of water puddles you can freeze like this, you end up with big beds of water you could potentialy freeze and end up with your game stuck at 1 fps. ;p
